SHOUTOUT: Nick Kristof

Nick Kristof has been a big influence on my life along with many others. He might have one of the best jobs in the world. Actually, I'm not really sure what his job is. I mean, he is a columnist for the New York Times but it seems as though he has free range to go to the corners of the earth to write about human rights abuses. He was one of the first reporters to shed light on genocide in Darfur. He has also not missed a beat reporting on the increasing global sex-trade business.
His articles cover a wide range of human
rights issues from health care and food safety in America to the war on drugs to conflict minerals in the Congo. Nick Kristof covers it all and people are listening.
Nick recently caught Oprah's ear, appearing on the show twice in less than 2 months, I think. I cannot verify that but it felt like back to back weeks when my mom called me in to watch "that activist guy I like a lot" on Oprah. He did a great job presenting the hope and need of addressing human rights. I'm not alone as many celebrities have taken time off to tour the globe with Nick to promote human rights.
